1. Junie B Jones
I loved this series because I could really relate to Junie B. She was like a friend trapped inside of a book. She went through all the trials someone in kindergarten could go through. From losing a friend to getting in trouble, and trying out new things. It was always an adventure. Now that I pick the book up now. I could probably finish it in fifteen minutes. I have about six of the books. That's how many I bothered collecting when I was a kid before they got a bit too old for me.
This was probably the first series I ever have gotten into. My absolute favorite ones were the Merlin Missions. Jack and Annie are now a little older so there are more chapters and a better plot in which they have to solve missions from Merlin and use a couple of magical rhymes to help them along the way. Night of the New Magicians was my favorite Merlin Mission out of them all.
3. Diary of a Wimpy Kid
By the time I read this series I was in fourth or fifth grade. Like Junie B Jones this was a series I could relate to even If I wasn't yet in middle school. And even If I was a girl who didn't have any annoying brothers. But he was still a student struggling from the embarrassment of school. I feel anyone could relate to that. I have the first eight books before I got bored of them.
4. Maximum Ride
This is where I got into young adult books. And these are my real favorites that I might reread again and again. Maximum Ride is about these mutant kids struggling to get away from scientists who was to research and test them. The thing is they have wings and can fly. I really enjoyed reading this book. It had a little bit of everything. Romance, action, SciFi, and family moments. I have the first four books.
5. Peter and the Starcatchers
This was an adaptation of Peter Pan. Sort of how he came to be and his entire story. There are pirates, mermaids, and the British navy. The whole sort of "fairy dust" Is what the Starcatchers collect and protect from evildoers. The whole franchise is a great amount of fun and I would totally recommend it to anyone in a childish mood but doesn't want to be caught in the gutter of simple sentences and picture books.
Another Peter Pan book that is more adult than this would be The Child Theif which I will most likely review in another post later on.
6. Pendragon
7. Percy Jackson
I am pretty sure Percy Jackson is well known. I am including both series Rick Riordan wrote. Because of most of the same character star in both. basically Greek and Roman Mythology. but mostly Greek. Demigod summer camps. Quests. And ultimate Monster and Titan battles as well as humorous Gods. If you're looking to have a mildly informative but mostly fun and games novel you should look into this series.
Honorable Mention: Warriors
I am not sure if this series is well known, but it is one of the good ones I read back in elementary school. Basically, a house cat wanders out into the woods and meets some wild cats. The cats take him from his normal boring tame cat life and into a new adventurous one where there is a whole society of cats! And you follow this cats journey as he gets promoted as the society trust him more and more. It's really fun to see the kitty cat world and how strays might live in the forest.
8. Harry Potter
If you don't know Harry Potter. I'm not sure if you are from this century. Eleven-year-old witches and wizards are accepted into a wizarding school. And learn magic. Harry Potter is one of those wizards and struggles with keeping his nose down throughout the entire series. But that's what makes it interesting... Each book is a mini-mystery with compelling adventures and great latin roots. You are sure to enjoy it.
Hands up for Ravenclaw house!!! That's my house! And for Ilvermorny I am a Thunderbird. Not so sure about them so not that pumped. I guess they are cool. J.K. herself is a Thunderbird so...
Anyway, What are your favorite childhood books? What is your Ilvermorny and or Hogwarts house? Do you know any of the books I mentioned?
PS. I would have added more pictures. But there was this weird bug where all the other pictures turned a different way. Shame I spent a lot of time on making them not so blurry. It's probably the lighting. Mind, I am doing this at night time.
